SC Appleseed to Honor Chairman Inez Moore Tenenbaum for their Advocate of the Year

On Wednesday, October 23, 2013, South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center hosted its annual Advocate of the Year reception at Stone River in West Columbia, SC. At the event, SC Appleseed honored the 9th Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and former SC Superintendent of Education, Inez Moore Tenenbaum for her dedication and contributions to children and the working poor in South Carolina.

Each year, The Board of Directors of SC Appleseed recognizes an individual whose life’s work has been dedicated to improving the lives of fellow South Carolinians. Past honorees include: Ken Suggs (’07), I.S. Leevy Johnson (’08), Vicky Eslinger (’09), Congressman John Spratt ’10), Congressman James Clyburn (’11), and US Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley (’12). The SC Appleseed Legal Justice Center is pleased to recognize as our 2013 Advocate of the Year Award, Inez Tenenbaum who has been a tireless voice for children and their families in South Carolina for nearly two decades.
